Frequency Control of a Rhythmic Network Through the Interaction of Both Fast and Slow Inputs

ثبت نشده
چکیده

Rhythmic movements are often controlled by systems containing coupled subnetworks whose oscillations are of different frequencies. We show how fast inhibition from the pyloric network interacts with a slow modulatory input to control the frequency of the gastric mill rhythm of the crustacean stomatogastric ganglion. We deduce that the timing of the pyloric input is crucial in determining what affect it has on the frequency of the gastric network. Over one set of timings, the modulatory input and the pyloric input work together to determine the frequency and over another set of timings, the affect of the pyloric input is mitigated by the modulatory input.

O23: Modulation of Pacemaker Channels and Rhythmic Thalamic Activity by Demyelination and Inflammatory Cytokines

The thalamus is a central element for the generation of rhythmic oscillatory activity under physiological and pathophysiological conditions. Especially slow oscillations in the delta and theta frequency band which normally occur during slow-wave sleep are associated with a number of neuropsychiatric conditions if they occur during wakefulness and may be the basis for the generation of character...

Effects of tripolar TENS of vertebral column on slow and fast motor units: A preliminary study using H-reflex recovery curve method

Introduction: Effect of tripolar TENS of vertebral column on slow and fast motoneurons (MNs) activity of soleus muscle was previously investigated. In this study for better differentiation of the behavior of slow and fast MNs, we exploited H-reflex recovery curve recording in two muscles of soleus and lateral gastrocnemius, respectively as the representatives of slow and fast muscles. Meth...

A neural mass model of CA1-CA3 neural network and studying sharp wave ripples

We spend one third of our life in sleep. The interesting point about the sleep is that the neurons are not quiescent during sleeping and they show synchronous oscillations at different regions. Especially sharp wave ripples are observed in the hippocampus. Here, we propose a simple phenomenological neural mass model for the CA1-CA3 network of the hippocampus considering the spike frequency adap...

Frequency-dependent electrophysiological properties of concealed slow pathway of isolated rabbit atrioventricular node preparation after fast pathway ablation in a functional model

Introduction: Intranodal pathways of atrioventricular (AV) node play a vital role in the delay of conduction time in response to various atrial inputs. The present study was aimed to determine the frequency-dependent electrophysiological properties of concealed slow pathway according to a functional model of isolated rabbit atrioventricular node preparation after fast pathway ablation. Meth...

Introduction: This study aimed at determining the impact of strength training on the rate of Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor(nAChR) at fast and slow twitch skeletal muscles of rats. Methods: Ten Wistar rats were divided into two groups randomly: control group(n=5) and strength-training group(n=5) which the latter group participated in a 10-week strength-training program. The strength training...
